Ranger´s apprentice - The ruins of Gorlan (spejarens lärling)

This book is about a boy called Will. His dad was killed in a war for a long time ago and his mother died when Will was born. Now he lives in a castle and one day he is going to be a apprentice to someone and he really want to be a warrior and train in the battle school even though he's small. Horace is also an orphane and lives in the ward. He has the exact same dream as Will and teases him about it.

When the day comes all the ophanes in the ward are brought together in a room with all the different masters. Will is at the end of the line. He sees everyone step forward and say what they want to be, and the master either says yes or no. Everyone is accepted by the masters and when it's Wills he says he wants to become a warrior but the  battle master says no. Will is very sad because he has wanted to be a warrior throughout his whole life like his father but he can't. When all the apprentices and masters walk out he sees the mysterious ranger give a parchment to the Baron.
During the night Will can't sleep because he really wants to know what's written in the parchment, so he decides to climb up on the tower where they were yesterday to find out. He hides in the shadows and climbs up to the window and jumps in. When he comes in someone touches his shoulder and he turns around. The dark ranger looks at him through his cape. Then the Baron comes in the room and they talk along time. He's allowed to read the parchment and is asked to become apprentice to the mystical, legendary and secretive Ranger Halt.....

I think this book was one of the best I ever had read and I give it: 5 of 5 stars
